베이퍼웨어 (Vaporware)

Vaporware는 소프트웨어 및 기술 담당자가 출시될 것이라고 말하지만 실제로는 제공하지 않는 것을 설명하기 위해 사용하는 멋진 용어입니다. 친구가 점심을 대접하겠다고 약속했지만 항상 마지막 순간에 취소하는 것과 같습니다. 일부 회사는 사람들이 제품을 구매하도록 유혹하기 위해 그것을 사용하지만 결코 따르지 않으며 때로는 현금이나 기술적인 문제와 같은 것을 비난합니다. 이 속임수에는 결과가 있습니다. 고객은 짜증을 내고 회사를 더 이상 신뢰하지 않을 수 있으며 회사는 존중을 잃고 중요한 사람들에게 나쁘게 보일 수 있습니다.

Vaporware is a fancy term that the software and tech folks use to describe something they say is coming, yet never actually delivers. It’s like when your friend promises to treat you to lunch, but always cancels last minute. Some companies use it to tempt folks into buying their products, but then never follow through, and sometimes they blame it on stuff like cash or technical problems. There are consequences for this trick – customers get annoyed and might not trust the company anymore, while the company can lose respect and look bad to the people who matter.

In the past few years, talkin’ ’bout a product or service that ain’t gonna happen (“vaporware”) has been happenin’ less, cuz everyone’s so open on the internet and social media. If companies say they’ll do something, they gotta come through or else people are gonna get angry.

But, there still some industries, like video games, where the game makers will announce a new game way ahead of time just to get people excited, but then the game never actually happens or it’s just no good.

So, basically, vaporware means sayin’ you’re gonna do somethin’ but then you don’t. This can really mess up a company’s reputation and make people not trust them anymore. It doesn’t happen as much now, but still happens in some industries.
